Scottish Girl Arrested for Carrying Knife; Government Recommends Full Mech Suit Instead

SCOTLAND — After a 14-year-old girl was arrested for brandishing a knife to scare off a would-be attacker, authorities have clarified that her real crime was “not filing for the proper robotics permit.”
“Self-defense is legal,” explained Police Chief Nigel Fotheringay, adjusting his medal-covered uniform. “But only if conducted via state-approved methods, such as filling out Form 47-B and operating a legally registered mech suit. Anything else is vigilantism.”
The ruling sparked outrage among parents, though government ministers quickly reassured citizens that children unable to afford a mech suit will be given access to “community loaner robots” .
Retailers, however, are thrilled. Marks & Spencer has already launched a “Back to School Battle Gear” line featuring sequined exo-helmets, while Claire’s Accessories is selling “Starter Pack Railguns” for ages 13 and up. Stock prices for both surged, as did government approval ratings among mech suit lobbyists.
